What Friends of Bethany Means To Me.......
I have never had a family, and I don’t know what its like to have a mom or grandmother to give guidance. I had friends and family members that influenced me to do bad things to relieve stress, knowing it was unhealthy for me. I found I was digging myself into a hole and being in an unhealthy place and being pulled in a direction I did not want to go. I wanted to turn my life around for my child. I wanted a better life, and then I found Friends of Bethany.
I found family and relationships at Friends of Bethany. I’m being mentored by people who care about me and giving me a positive sense of direction to become a better person and learning how to make better choices for myself. My family always put me down but at Friends of Bethany I get lots of support and encouragement
When I call my mentor and come to the monthly meetings I can talk out my concerns to someone who’s concerned for my well-being which helps me to feel better about myself. I get so much encouragement from the mentor(s) and volunteers to let me know that I can overcome my challenges in life. I can jump over the hurdles and I thank God that there’s someone to guide and direct me.
I was homeless for two years, and since I’ve come to Friends of Bethany, I’ve gotten help in several areas of my life including housing. I’m looking forward getting my GED. I come from a family that hasn’t done much in life. I want to give my child a better life. I’m around positive people which help me to stay focus on my goals. I want a better life for myself and child and because of Friends of Bethany I have hope, and I believe that a brighter future is ahead for me and my child.
I am thankful for agencies like Friends of Bethany. I have a ‘safe’ place to turn to for moral support and strength. My life is so much better because of Friends of Bethany. I know today, God is with me.
